The goal of the Global Pregnancy Collaboration (CoLab) is to improve the health of mothers and their infants by facilitating harmonized perinatal data management and collaborative research. This is accomplished by developing standardized generic data dictionaries that cover the needs of all maternal child health care—from the simplest in the most resource poor countries to the most sophisticated research in more privileged areas.
We actively promote sharing of data and biological samples from participating centers available to researchers worldwide and engage in strategies to enable collaborations among scientists. A standardized database, COLLECT, has also been launched to further facilitate collaborative research. Simpler open access versions are being developed.
CoLab continues to grow and now includes adjunct representatives from Malaysia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States as well as the participation of two consortia—one in Indonesia and the other spanning the Ibero-American region.
